Eleanor Barr, Esq.
MEDIATION EXPERIENCE
During the last decade, Ms. Barr has resolved over a thousand cases –
many of them multi-party, bitterly-contested disputes – in a variety of
areas including business, employment, real estate, insurance coverage,
catastrophic injury and probate law. Her success at settling cases
attests to her skills at distilling complex issues, facilitating
productive dialogue and defusing the emotional issues that often
underlie conflict.
In addition to mediating legal disputes, Ms. Barr facilitates large and
small group dialogues in corporate and educational settings. She has
been recognized by “Best Lawyers in America,” as one of the top
mediators and has been honored as one of the “Super Lawyers” in
California by Los Angeles Magazine.
As an adjunct professor at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution
at Pepperdine University School of Law, Ms. Barr teaches mediation
skills to students, lawyers and judges. She is a frequent lecturer on
mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution for law firms,
businesses, insurance companies and educational institutions.

PROFESSIONAL LEGAL EXPERIENCE
Ms. Barr began practicing law 20 years ago as a litigator of complex
civil cases. She was a named partner (under her maiden name, Oths) at
Denney & Oths in Glendale, California where she focused on
environmental, business and employment litigation. Prior to that, Ms.
Barr was an associate at Glassman & Browning in Beverly Hills where she
litigated in the areas of entertainment and First Amendment law. She has
represented corporate and individual clients, as plaintiffs and
defendants, in all stages of litigation including mediations,
arbitrations, trials and appeals. Ms. Barr’s experience in litigating
complex, multi-party lawsuits has been instrumental in her ability to
resolve such cases as a mediator.
