1974 Law Clerk to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Judicial Experience

1986 - 2005    JUDGE OF THE LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR COURT

  • Presided over civil trials, pre-trial matters, law and motion, and settlement conferences for over thirteen years.
  • Presided over a civil individual direct calendar court in the Central District for over three years, and in the West District for the five years immediately prior to retirement.
  • Served one year as the sole law and motion judge in the West District daily handling a large volume and variety of matters, including many complex discovery disputes.
  • Tried numerous civil injury and non-jury cases including several lengthy business disputes, numerous complex real estate matters, a variety of medical, dental, and legal malpractice cases, and many interesting cases involving claims of identity theft, fraud, insurance bad faith, wrongful termination, employment discrimination, defamation, products liability, and personal injury.

1985 - 1986    JUDGE OF THE LOS ANGELES MUNICIPAL COURT

  • Assignments included handling civil law and motion and civil trials in the Central District.
